Mogadishu,(insidesomalia.org)- SOMALIA is one of the world's most forgotten African nations where millions of innocent civilians continue to face the worst humanitarian situation, and humiliation resulting from the war between the militia groups and recently, the Islamic extremists.
Somalia has never had a central government for the last decade, with dozens of civilians living under a humiliating, helpless refugee life in their own country. But the worlds super powers like the US, Russia, Britain and France, as well as international bodies like the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and the African Union (AU), continue to watch and persue their selfish propaganda and economic wars in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan in the name of fighting terrorism and liberating the peoples from the Islamic fundamentalists.
One, therefore, wonders why the so-called supper powers have always taken a slow approach in handling African crises and pretended as if nothing is happening , not forgetting the million Rwandans who were murdered in 1994 genocide in the face of the UN Security Council and the so-called American allies.
The situation in Darfur, Sudan, Morocco, the Democratic Republic Of Congo, northern Uganda and Palestine in the Middle East, hardly get the urgent attention of the World besides worst humanitarian situation.
But when the Alqueda terrorist group attacked the World Trade Centre in the US, on September 11, 2001, the rest of the world's super powers, united and declared war against the terrorists. The Iraqi regime of the late Saddam Hussein, was also brutally toppled, dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians lost their lives and multi-billion properties were destroyed by indiscriminate American bombs in the pretext of fighting terrorism.
And yet again, many people continue to die out of suicide bombings and air raids that has defined the current Iraq and its people, besides the enormous presence of Americans troops despite their sophisticated weaponry. But the US and its allies have insisted and continued to persue this mission. The attention given to the September 11, attack is considerably unacceptable and a sign that the world is biased.
Somalia was one of the countries identified by America as home of terrorists in Africa. However, because of no oil and presence of lucrative minerals, no attention has been given to the events here.
Somalia has not had a central government for the last decade, with dozens of civilians living helplessly as refugees, while the super powers continue to watch.
